This Mexican restaurant, the latest project of Ray et Tom Hickey et Gabriel Boisante, has a bar that reminded us of a busy London-based restaurant with its happening vibe and friendly staff. Located in uptown, directly opposite Badeanstalt, it is easy to get to as there is a bus stop directly outside.
Its clean and modern interior with light colours and wooden furniture creates a warm atmosphere. Particularly the iconic wall paintings, with the Andy Warholl like Lucha libre wrestler help to transport you right to Mexico city. It's indeed easy to soak in the atmosphere over a delicious fajita with home-made guacemola and a chilled Desperado. The menu features typical Mexican specialities such as tacos, burritos or fajitas. Nothing special in and by itself except that many recipes are completely home-made and indeed very, very tasty. Mamacita also offers vegetarian options such Fajitas Vegetariana.
The restaurant/bar gets busy though, even on weekdays, and it is best to call in to reserve a table to avoid disappointment.
'Try the mouth-watering fajitas that 'Mmmm-amacita' has for you. Also worth mentioning are Mamacita's burgers as a healthier option to the ones offered in the city.'
