Street Pianos Luxembourg

Play Me, I’m Yours 

– Many of you might have noticed the host of pianos set in several public places across the capital. This is in fact an intriguing exhibit by Luke Jerram whose artwork Play Me, I’m Yours has been touring international cities since 2008. The project started in Luxembourg for the first time in 2014 courtesy of the City of Luxembourg and LCTO. According to streetpianos.com ‘More than 1200 pianos have now been installed in 43 cities across the globe, from New York to Santiago and the project has already reached more than 4 million people worldwide.’

Indeed 16 street pianos – one of them mobile – invaded public spaces across Luxembourg’s capital bringing joy to both inhabitants and visitors. The street pianos Luxembourg have been decorated by youth community groups and schools and are located in municipal parks, streets and squares for anyone to play and enjoy. The idea is to create a spontaneous event where both amateurs as well as professional musicians are welcome to improvise micro-concerts. After the event, the pianos are donated to not-for-profit community groups, schools or youth associations. – What a foxy idea!
